This is a small 2 storey cottage to be built in the Bancroft area this spring.
Because of a high water table we decided to go with Postech's helical piers. These are a galvanized steel piers with a screw type tip. They are basically screwed into the ground as deep as required to give sufficient bearing. http://postech-foundations.com/thermal-piles/
